FAQ
Answering the questions we hear most from venue owners.
Do we need music licensing?
Yes. Cool Cat Juke is self-hosted. Venues remain responsible for public performance licenses in their region.
Can people queue songs from off-site?
No. Guests must be on-premises to queue songs, which prevents remote trolling and keeps the vibe aligned with the room.
Does it work offline?
Playback continues locally after setup (Home/Club). Guest access still works offline via local DNS (jukebox.yourdomain.com), mDNS (jukebox.local), or a captive portal. Premium needs internet for payments and license heartbeat.
Do we need our own payment gateway?
No. Use your own Stripe/Square account or choose the Cool Cat marketplace and get paid out directly through Stripe Connect.
Can we use our own music?
Yes. Venue uploads stay separate from the optional catalog subscription.
What if I have more than one location?
We offer multi-location pricing. Contact sales to discuss volume discounts across your venues.
Do we need to provide a server?
Yes. You will need a simple on-site server to host the jukebox (refurbished options are often under $500). We can handle setup and configuration if you want help.
What happens if the catalog subscription lapses?
Catalog tracks are hidden after a grace period. Venue uploads remain available.
